Mount Kailash (6714m) situated in China’s autonomous region of Tibet, is perhaps the most sacred peak in the world. Revered as Kang Rimpoche by Tibetans, it is the center of worship for four world faiths: Bonpo, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jain. Hindus believe it as an abode of the Hindu god and goddess, Lord Shiva and Parvati, Buddhists as the dwelling of lord Buddha, Jain as a place for the liberation of their first saint, and Bon-Po as a Pillar of the universe and the savior of the entire world. Today Tibet is visited by travelers and pilgrims from all over the world. The primary attractions of Tibet are Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake, their spectacular Himalayan peaks, and diverse flora and fauna.
Pilgrims believe circumambulating holy mount Kailash helps one attain salvation from the Birth cycle by getting rid of all sins and bad deeds. The complete journey around Mt. Kailash is approximately 53km. Kailash Mansarovar is one of the most important pilgrimage sites. Kailash is a pilgrimage even to many Jyothirlinga and Shiva Temples. In this Universe, Humans are superior to Soul, Sages are superior to Humans, Gods are superior to sages and Lord Shiva is superior even to Gods and Kailash is the dwelling place of supreme Lord Shiva. So, every pilgrimage is believed to be incomplete without Kailash Pilgrimage.
