What is Global Distribution System?
GDS is a worldwide "Global Distribution System" computerized reservation network used as a single point of access for cooperative airline seats, hotel rooms, rental cars, and other travel related items by travel agents, and huge company. The global companies which provide global distribution systems are Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre, and Worldspan. They're owned and operated as joint ventures by great airlines, car rental companies, and hotel groups also called automated reservation system (ARS) or computerized reservation system (CRS).
Global distribution systems haven't only made the lives of travel agencies easier, but it's also helped them to capture more business and reaching out even more to their potential clients. Due to the multiple benefits that are offered by these systems, they're mostly used by travel agencies.
These systems have greatly changed the way the travel agencies have started operating, that's because the factor of specificity has been included and the travel agencies know when, where and how to offer their services to a large pool of different clients at once.
This also helps them save time. It has also helped to maximize the number of bookings of their customers which also indirectly helps the travel agencies to generate more revenues. These systems aren't only beneficial to the travel agencies but also to the hotels. That's because it helps them to attract more customers.
