7 Days Kilimanjaro Trekking via Machame route
Day 1: Machame Gate (1,800m/5,905ft) to Machame Camp (3,000m/9,840ft)
The trek begins at the Machame Gate, where you'll complete park registration and meet your guide and porters.
The trail winds through the lush rainforest, and it's a moderate day of trekking. The hike usually takes 5-7 hours to reach Machame Camp, where you'll spend your first night.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp 2 (3,850m/12,630ft)
On the second day, you'll leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone.
The hike includes steeper sections, and you'll ascend through rocky terrain. It typically takes 4-6 hours to reach Shira Camp 2, where you'll spend the night.

Day 3: Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp (3,960m/13,000ft)
Today's trek involves reaching a high point at Lava Tower (4,630m/15,190ft) before descending to Barranco Camp.
This "climb high, sleep low" strategy helps with acclimatization. The trek usually takes 6-8 hours.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (3,995m/13,106ft)
You'll encounter the famous Barranco Wall, a challenging but exhilarating climb.
After reaching the top of the wall, the trail is more straightforward as you head to Karanga Camp.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,673m/15,331ft)
The trek continues through alpine desert terrain.
Today's hike is relatively short, lasting around 3-5 hours, allowing you time to rest and prepare for the summit push.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m/19,341ft) and then to Mweka Camp (3,100m/10,170ft)
You'll start the summit attempt around midnight to reach Uhuru Peak in time for sunrise.
The ascent takes approximately 6-8 hours to reach the summit.
After celebrating your accomplishment at the summit, you'll descend to Mweka Camp, where you'll spend your final night on the mountain.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640m/5,380ft)

The last day involves descending through the rainforest back to Mweka Gate.
You'll complete the park formalities and receive your summit certificates before transferring back to your hotel.
