Kilimanjaro climbing routes
Mount Kilimanjaro offers seven summit routes at the highest single free-standing mountain above sea level in the world: 5,895 m (19,341 ft) above sea level, each with its own unique features and challenges, catering to a diverse range of climbers.

1. Machame Route: Known for its scenic beauty and diverse landscapes, the Machame Route is a favorite among many climbers. It offers a gradual ascent and excellent acclimatization opportunities. The route takes around 6–7 days to complete.

2. Marangu Route: Often referred to as the "Coca-Cola" route due to its relative popularity, the Marangu Route is one of the more straightforward paths up Kilimanjaro. It provides accommodation in huts along the way, making it a comfortable choice. The route usually takes around 5–6 days.

3. Lemosho Route: Offering stunning panoramic views and less crowded trails, the Lemosho Route is a longer and more remote option. It's ideal for those who want a quieter trek and more time for acclimatization. The route typically takes around 6–9 days.

4. Rongai Route: This route approaches Kilimanjaro from the north and is less crowded compared to other paths. It offers a unique perspective and is known for its wilderness feel. The Rongai Route usually takes around 6-7 days.

5. Northern Circuit Route: The longest route on Kilimanjaro, the Northern Circuit Route, provides ample time for acclimatization and boasts stunning views from various angles. It's a less-traveled path, making it a serene option for those seeking a longer and more challenging climb around 9–11 days.

6. Umbwe Route: This is a more direct and steeper route, recommended for experienced climbers who are comfortable with a faster ascent. It's considered more challenging due to its steep terrain and is typically completed in 6–7 days.

7. Shira Route: Similar to the Lemosho Route, the Shira Route approaches Kilimanjaro from the west. It's known for its beautiful scenery and high starting point, which can aid with acclimatization.
