Shira Route Kilimanjaro day Hike
Cathedral Point, 3962m on Mount Kilimanjaro's Shira Plateau, is a fascinating and scenic area shaped by lava from the volcano. The Shira Route Kilimanjaro Day Hike offers a glimpse into the mountain's ecosystems and the snow-capped summit. The hike begins at your hotel in Moshi/Arusha and continues through the rich agriculture area to Londorossi gate. The hike then continues to Morum barrier at 3400m, where the hike begins towards Cathedral Point Summit. The Shira plateau features an ancient caldera and is a world heritage site. The hike concludes at Morum Barrier gate. Hiking Mount Kilimanjaro via Shira Route is a demanding but worthwhile experience that offers breathtaking views of the surroundings. The hike, which covers 12-14 miles and takes 6-8 hours, begins at 3,500 meters above sea level at Shira 1 camp. The trail can be rocky and steep, but it is clearly marked and easy to follow. The breathtaking vistas of Kilimanjaro's northern ice fields and the distinctive wildlife, which includes the recognizable mountain bouquet, are the highlights.
