Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be met by a representative from DAV Safaris. After a warm welcome, you will be transferred to your hotel in Nairobi. This day is primarily for relaxation and preparation for the upcoming safari.
You can spend the afternoon visiting some of Nairobi’s attractions, such as the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where you can learn about elephant conservation, or the Giraffe Centre, where you can feed the endangered Rothschild giraffes. In the evening, you will enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, providing a taste of Kenyan cuisine. After dinner, you will have a briefing about your Masai Mara safari, outlining what to expect in the coming days.
Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, you will depart for the Masai Mara National Reserve. The journey takes approximately five to six hours, with picturesque landscapes along the way. As you travel, you will pass through the Great Rift Valley, a geological wonder that adds to the scenic beauty of your trip.
Upon arrival at the Masai Mara, you will check into your lodge or tented camp. After settling in, you will embark on your first game drive in the reserve. The Masai Mara is renowned for its diverse wildlife, including the Big Five: lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinoceroses.
